Athens, Tennessee- The Brenau soccer team competed valiantly, but fell to #2-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan University 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference match on Tuesday.
For 66 minutes, both teams battled to a stalemate until the host Bulldogs' Stina Braun beat Brenau keeper Zyara Gonzalez-Galeano for the lone goal of the match.
Gonzalez-Galeano saved three shots on goal for the Golden Tigers.
The match served as the final one for head coach Mike Lochstampfor, who started the program in 2002-2003. Lochstampfor retires as the winningest coach in Brenau's soccer history.
Brenau closes the 2025 season with a record of 9-8-1 overall and a conference record of 6-6-1.
