Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team split a pair of games with Tennessee Wesleyan as the squad lost the opening game 7-2, but rallied to win the second game 11-3 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest on Thursday.
The Golden Tigers struggled in the opening game by generating only six hits as the visiting Bulldogs ran away with a 7-2 win.
Sophomore Dayton Power continued her stellar season by going 2-3, while junior Whitney Hulsey added an RBI.
In the second game, the Brenau offense got back on track by pounding out 14 hits in an 11-3 victory in five innings.
The home team opened the game with four runs in the first inning and continued to pour on the runs throughout the seven innings.
Sophomore Peyton Hawkins led the Golden Tigers with a 4-4 day at the plate with a whopping 6 RBIs, while junior Charlotte Smith went 2-2 with 2 RBIs. Power added two hits and freshman Elizabeth Bowen added two hits and an RBI.
Brenau (19-6 overall overall, 8-2 AAC) next travels to take on Milligan (Tenn.) University (10-10 overall, 6-8 AAC) on Saturday.
